And every going beyond the limit and excess of the measure which is the boundary of a thing, that is transgression.
وبرئ جرحه على بغى، وهو أن يبرأ وفيه شئ من نغل.
And his wound healed with a festering, which is that it heals while there is still some corruption in it.
والبغية: الحاجة.
And the need: the requirement.
يقال: لي في بنى فلان بغية وبغية، أي حاجة.
It is said: I have a need from the people of so-and-so, meaning a requirement.
والبغية مثل الجلسة: الحال التى تبغيها.
And the desired state, like 'al-jalsah': the condition that you desire.
والبغية: الحاجة نفسها، عن الاصمعي.
And the desired thing: the need itself, according to Al-Asma'i.
وبغى ضالته، وكذلك كل طلبة بغاء بالضم والمد، وبغاية أيضا.
And he sought his lost thing, and likewise every search is 'bughaa'' (with damma and madd) and also 'bigayah'.
يقال: فرقوا لهذه الإبل بغيانا يضبون لها، أي يتفرقون في طلبها.
It is said: Scatter for these camels in a search ('bughyanan') to track them, meaning to disperse in their pursuit.
وبغت المرأة بغاء بالكسر والمد، أي زنت، فهي بغى، والجمع بغايا.
And the woman committed adultery ('baghat') with 'bughaa'' (with kasra and madd), meaning she fornicated, so she is an adulteress ('baghiyyah'), and the plural is 'baghaya'.
وما كانت أمك بغيا
And your mother was not an adulteress
وخرجت المرأة تباغي، أي تزاني.
And the woman went out seeking illicit relations ('tubaghi'), meaning she was committing adultery.
والأمة يقال لها بغي، وجمعها البغايا، ولا يراد به الشتم، وإن سمين بذلك في الأصل لفجورهن.
And a female slave is called a 'baghiyyah', and her plural is 'al-baghaya', and it is not intended as an insult, even if they were named that originally due to their lewdness.
يقال: قامت على رؤوسهم البغايا.
It is said: The prostitutes stood over their heads.
والبغايا أيضا. الطلائع التي تكون قبل ورود الجيش.
And 'al-baghaya' also refers to: the scouts that are before the arrival of the army.
قال الأصمعي: رفعنا بغي السماء خلفنا، أي معظم مطرها.
Al-Asma'i said: We raised the heavy rain ('bughya') behind us, meaning its abundant rain.
والبغي: اختيال ومرح في الفرس.
And 'al-baghyu': haughtiness and exuberance in a horse.
ويغيت الشئ: طلبته.
And he sought the thing ('yughi'): he requested it.
ويقال بغيت المال من مبغاته، كما تقول: أتيت الأمر من مأتاته، تريد المأتى والمبغى.
And it is said: I sought the money from its source ('mabghatihi'), as you say: I came to the matter from its approach ('ma'tatihi'), meaning the destination and the sought place ('mabgha').
وبغيتك الشئ: طلبته لك، ومنه قول الشاعر * ليبغيه خيرا وليس بفاعل *
And I sought the thing for you ('baghaytuka'): I requested it for you, and from this is the poet's saying: *To seek good for him, though he will not do it*
وينبغي لك أن تفعل كذا، هو من أفعال المطاوعة، يقال: بغيته فانبغى، كما تقول: كسرته فانكسر.
And it is fitting for you to do so ('yanbaghi laka'), it is from the verbs of compliance; it is said: I sought it and it was sought ('baghaytuhu fa-anbagha'), as you say: I broke it and it broke ('kasartuhu fa-nkassara').
وأبغيتك الشئ: أعنتك على طلبه.
And I helped you seek the thing ('abgaytuka'): I assisted you in seeking it.
وأبغيتك الشئ أيضا: جعلتك طالبا له.
And I made the thing sought for you ('abgaytuka') also: I made you a seeker of it.
وابتغيت الشئ وتبغيته، إذا طلبته وبغيته.
And you sought the thing ('ibtahayta') and sought it ('tabaghaytahu'), if you requested it and sought it.
وتباغوا، أي بغى بعضهم على بعض.
And they wronged each other ('tabaghaw'), meaning some of them acted unjustly towards others.
