وقد فره بالضم يفره فهو فاره، وهو نادر مثل حامض، وقياسه فريه وحميض، مثل صغر فهو صغير، وملح فهو مليح.
And he became skilled (fariha, with dammah) he is skilled (fārih), and this is rare, like ḥāmiḍ from ḥamuḍa. Its standard form would be fariya and ḥamīḍ, like ṣaghura so he is ṣaghīr, and maluḥa so he is malīḥ.
ويقال للبرذون والبغل والحمار: فاره بين الفروهة والفراهة والفراهية، وبراذين فرهة مثل صاحب وصحبة، وفره أيضا مثل بازل وبزل، وحائل وحول.
And it is said of the mule, the donkey, and the ass: 'fārih' in the sense of 'al-farwahah', 'al-farāhah', and 'al-farāhiyah'. And 'braādhīn farhah' like ṣāḥib and ṣuḥbah, and 'farh' also like bāzil and buzl, and ḥā'il and ḥūl.
ولا يقال للفرس فاره، ولكن رائع وجواد.
And 'fārih' is not said of a horse, but rather 'rā'iʿ' and 'jawād'.
فنقلنا صنعة حتى شتا * فاره البال لجوجا في السنن
So we transferred craftsmanship until winter came, * skilled in mind, persistent in ways.
وأفرهت الناقة فهى مفره ومفرهة، إذا كانت تنتج الفره.
And the female camel became 'mufrih' (producing offspring), so she is 'mufrih' and 'mufrihah', if she produces 'al-fara' (offspring).
ومفرهة عنس قدرت لساقها * فخرت كما تتايع الريح بالقفل
And a female camel, old and producing offspring, I estimated for her leg, * she stumbled as the wind follows the lock.
تحل على مفرهة سناد * على أخفافها علق يمور
She alights upon a female camel producing offspring, with a hump, * on her hooves, a clinging thing moves.
وفرِه بالكسر: أشر وبطر.
And 'fariha' (with kasrah): arrogance and haughtiness.
وتنحتون من الجبال بيوتا فرهين
And you carve houses from the mountains, arrogant.
فمن قرأه كذلك فهو من هذا، ومن قرأه: (فارهين) فهو من فره بالضم.
So whoever reads it thus, it is from this (meaning arrogant), and whoever reads it: 'fārihīn', it is from faraha (with dammah, meaning skilled).
