ورجل خائن وخائنة أيضا، والهاء للمبالغة مثل علامة ونسابة.
And a man is a betrayer and a betrayer also, and the 'ha' is for exaggeration, like 'allamah (learned one) and 'nassabah (genealogist).
حدثت نفسك بالوفاء ولم تكن للغدر خائنة مغل الإصبع
You convinced yourself of loyalty, but you were not a betrayer, a deceiver of the finger.
وقوم خونة، كما قالوا حوكة.
And a people of betrayers, as they said 'hawakah' (crafty people).
وخونه: نسبه إلى الخيانة.
And 'khawnahu': to attribute betrayal to him.
والخوان: الأسد.
And 'al-khawwān': the lion.
أبو عمرو: التخون: التعهد.
Abu Amr said: 'al-takhawwun': to attend to.
يقال: الحمى تخونه.
It is said: The fever attends to it.
لا ينعش الطرف إلا ما تخونه داع يناديه باسم الماء مبغوم
The gaze is not revived except by what it is attended to by a caller inviting it with the name of water, flowing.
ويقال: إلا ما تنقص نومه دعاء أمه له.
And it is said: Except what diminishes its sleep, the call of its mother to it.
والتخون أيضا: التنقص.
And 'al-takhawwun' also: to diminish.
يقال: تخونني فلان حقي، إذا تنقصك.
It is said: So-and-so diminishes my right, if he diminishes you.
لابل هو الشوق من دار تخونها مرا سحاب ومرا بارح ترب
Rather, it is the longing from a dwelling that clouds pass over and a strong wind passes over, nurturing it.
عذافرة تقمص بالردافى تخونها نزولي وارتحالي
A strong she-camel, adorned with ornaments, whose flesh and fat are diminished by my descending and my journeying.
أي تنقص لحمها وشحمها.
Meaning, its flesh and fat are diminished.
والخوان (1) بالكسر: الذي يؤكل عليه معرب.
And 'al-khwān' (with kasra): the one upon which food is eaten, it is a loanword.
وثلاثة أخونة، والكثير خون، ولا يثقل كراهية الضمة على الواو.
And three 'akhwinah', and the many are 'khūn', and it is not made heavy (doubled) out of dislike for the dammah on the waw.
والخان: الذى للتجار.
And 'al-khān': that which is for merchants.
