والحين بالفتح: الهلاك.
And al-ḥīn (with fatḥah): destruction.
يقال: حان الرجل، أي هلك.
It is said: ḥāna the man, meaning he perished.
وأحانه الله.
And God caused him to perish.
والحانات: المواضع التى يباع فيها الخمر.
And al-ḥānāt: the places where wine is sold.
والحانية: الخمر منسوبة إلى ms1438 الحانة، وهى حانوت الخمار.
And al-ḥāniyah: wine, attributed to the ḥānah, which is the wine-seller's shop.
والحانوت معروف، يذكر ويؤنث، وأصله حانوة مثل ترقوة، فلما سكنت الواو انقلبت هاء التأنيث تاء.
And al-ḥānūt is known, it is masculine and feminine, and its origin is ḥānūyah like turquwah, and when the waw became quiescent, the feminine haa turned into a taa.
والجمع الحوانيت، لان الرابع منه حرف لين.
