وأفن الحالب، إذا لم يدع في الضرع شيئا.
And the milker depleted, if he left nothing in the udder.
وهو أن تحلبها أنى شئت من غير وقت، معلوم.
It is that you milk her whenever you wish, not at a known, fixed time.
إذا أفنت أروى عيالك أفنها وإن حينت أربى على الوطب حينها
If Arwa's milk is depleted for your family, it is depleted; and if you milk her at the proper time, it will exceed the milk skin at its time.
وأفنت الناقة بالكسر: قل لبنها، فهى أفنة، مقصورة.
And the she-camel's milk became depleted with kasrah: her milk became little, so she is afinah, shortened.
جاءنا فلان على إفان ذلك، أي على حين ذلك.
So-and-so came to us at that time, meaning at that moment.
