And His saying, the Almighty: (marked) Al-Akhfash said it can mean marked and it can mean sent forth, from your saying: the horses were sent forth in it, meaning released.
ومننه السائمة.
And from it is the grazing livestock.
أبو زيد: سومت الرجل، إذا خليته وسومه، أي وما يريد.
Abu Zayd: I let the man go, meaning I left him to his own desires, meaning what he wants.
وسومت على القوم، إذا أغرت عليهم فعثت فيهم.
And I raided the people, meaning I attacked them and caused destruction among them.
والسام: عروق الذهب، الواحدة سامة.
And the sam: veins of gold, the singular is samah.
والسام: الموت.
And the sam: death.
وسام: أحد بنى نوح عليه السلام، وهو أبو العرب.
And Shem: one of Noah's sons, and he is the father of the Arabs.
والسوام والسائم بمعنى، وهو المال الراعي.
And the grazing livestock and the grazer are synonymous, and it is the grazing property.
يقال: سامت الماشية تسوم سوما، أي رعت فهى سائمة.
It is said: the livestock grazed, grazing, meaning they grazed and are grazing.
وأسمتها أنا، إذا أخرجتها إلى الرعي.
And I sent them to pasture, meaning I took them out to graze.
قال تعالى: (فيه تسيمون).
Allah the Almighty said: (therein you graze).
والسوم في المبايعة، تقول منه: ساومته سواما.
And bargaining in trade, from it you say: I bargained with him.
واستام علي، وتساومنا.
And he bargained for it, and we bargained with each other.
وسمك بعيرك سيمة حسنة.
And I gave your camel a good mark.
وإنه لغالي السيمة.
And indeed, he is of high appearance.
وسمته خسفا، أي أوليته إياه وأوردته عليه.
And I inflicted hardship upon him, meaning I made him experience it and brought it upon him.
وسام، أي مر.
And sam, meaning passed.
وقال: أتيح لها أقيدر ذو حشيف إذا سامت على الملقات ساما
And he said: It was made easy for her, a small, rough one, when it passed over the smooth ground.
وسوم الرياح: مرها.
And the blowing of the winds: their passing strongly.
والسيما، مقصور من الواو.
And the sima, shortened from the waw.
قال تعالى: (سيماهم في وجوههم)
Allah the Almighty said: (their mark in their faces)
وقد تجئ السيماء والسيمياء ممدودين.
And the sima' and the simya' may come lengthened.
وقال: غلام رماه الله بالحسن يافعا له سيمياء لا تشق على البصر
And he said: A boy whom Allah has blessed with beauty in his youth, he has an aura that is not burdensome to the sight
