Abu Dhu'ayb said, describing a man who came to Mecca on a she-camel among other camels: 'He came, and she came among them, and he was wiping her ears, vocalizing like a male camel.'
قال الأصمعي: تزغمها: صياحها وحدتها، وإنما يمسح ذفراها ليسكنها.
Al-Asma'i said: 'Tazghamuha: its cry and its intensity; he was wiping her ears only to calm her.'
وتزغم الفصيل: حن حنينا خفيفا.
And the young camel vocalized: it made a light, complaining sound.
قال لبيد: فأبلغ بني بكر إذا ما لقيتها على خير ما يلقى به من تزغما
Labid said: 'Then inform the sons of Bakr, when you meet them, of the best that one is met with, from a complaining sound.'
