And Labid made the young of cattle 'bihaman' in his saying: And the herd is resting upon its calves, young ones grazing in the open spaces, their calves.
وَيُقَالُ: هُمْ يُبْهِمُونَ البُهْمَ تَبْهِيمًا، إِذَا أَفْرَدُوهُ عَنْ أُمَّهَاتِهِ فَرَعَوْهُ وَحْدَهُ.
And it is said: They isolate the young animals with isolation, when they separate them from their mothers and raise them alone.
البُهْمَةُ بِالضَّمِّ: الفَارِسُ الَّذِي لَا يُدْرَى مِنْ أَيْنَ يُؤْتَى، مِنْ شِدَّةِ بَأْسِهِ، والجَمْعُ بُهْمٌ.
Al-buhamah (with dammah): the warrior from whom one does not know how he is approached, due to the intensity of his might, and the plural is buhm.
وَيُقَالُ أَيْضًا لِلْجَيْشِ بُهْمَةٌ، وَمِنْهُ قَوْلُهُمْ: فُلَانٌ فَارِسُ بُهْمَةٍ وَلَيْثُ غَابَةٍ.
And buhamah is also said for an army, and from this is their saying: So-and-so is a warrior of formidable might and a lion of the forest.
وَأَمْرٌ مُبْهَمٌ، أَيْ لَا مَأْتَى لَهُ.

وَأَبْهَمْتُ البَابَ: أَغْلَقْتُهُ.
