وما زالت الكأس تغتالنا وتذهب بالأول الأول

والغول بالضم من السعالي، والجمع أغوال وغيلان.
And the ghawl (with damma) is from the jinn (female demons), and the plural is aghwal and ghilan.
و " الغضب غول الحلم "، لأنه يغتاله ويذهب به.
And 'Anger is the ghawl of forbearance,' because it seizes and destroys it.
هذه أرض تغتال المشي، أي لا يتسبين فيها المشى، من بعدها وسعتها.
This is land that 'takes' the journey, meaning the walking is not easily accomplished in it, due to its distance and vastness.
وبلدة بعيدة النياط مجهولة تغتال خطو الخاطي
And a distant, unknown land that devours the steps of the sinner.
حجن المخالب لا يغتاله الشبع
The talons are curved, satiety does not diminish its strength.
والتغول: التلون.

تغولّت المرأة، إذ تلونت.

إذا ذات أهوال ثكول تغولت بها الربد فوضى والنعام السوارح

والمغاولة: المبادأة.
