والحفالة مثل الحثالة.
And al-ḥifāla is like al-ḥuthāla (worthless people).
يقال هو من حفالتهم وحثالتهم، أي ممن لا خير فيه منهم.
It is said he is from their worthless ones and their dregs, meaning from those among them who have no good.
وهو الرذل من كل شئ.
And it is the base or lowest of everything.
ورجل ذو حفلة، إذا كان مبالغا فيما أخذ فيه.
And a man of thoroughness, if he is meticulous in what he undertakes.
وجاءوا بحفلتهم، أي بأجمعهم.

And al-taḥfīl is like al-taṣriyah, which is not milking the ewe for days so that the milk accumulates in its udder for sale.
والشاة محفلة ومصراة.
And the ewe is one whose milk has accumulated and is one that has been withheld from milking.
ونهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن التصرية والتحفيل.
And the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, forbade al-taṣriyah and al-taḥfīl.
