And thulla, with damma, is a group of people.
وثلت الدابة تثل، أي راثت، وكذلك كل ذي حافر.
And a hoofed animal defecates (thallat) thulla, meaning it defecates, and so does every animal with hooves.
وثللت التراب في البئر وغيرها، إذا هلته.
And you pour earth into a well or elsewhere (thallalta), if you cast it in.
وثللت الدراهم ثلا: صببتها.
And you pour coins (thallalta) thallan: you poured them.
وثللت البيت أثله: هدمته، وهو أن تحفر أصل الحائط ثم تدفع فينقاض، وهو أهول الهدم.
And you demolish a house (thallalta) its foundation: you destroy it, which is to dig at the base of the wall then push it so it collapses, and it is the most terrifying of demolitions.
يقال: ثل الله عرشهم: أي هدم ملكهم.
It is said: May God demolish their throne (thalla Allah 'arshahum): meaning, may He destroy their kingdom.
ويقال للقوم إذا ذهب عزهم: قد ثل عرشهم،
And it is said of a people when their glory departs: their throne has been demolished (thalla 'arshuhum),
تداركتما الأحلاف قد ثل عرشها
You two saved the alliances, whose throne had been demolished.
والثلل بالتحريك: الهلاك.
And al-thalal, with haraka (vowelization), is destruction.
ثللت الرجل أثله ثلا وثللا، عن الاصمعي.
You demolished the man's foundation (thallalta rajulan athlahu) thallan and thallalan, according to Al-Asma'i.
فصلقنا في مراد صلقة وصداء ألحقتهم بالثلل
So we struck in the valley with a strike and a blow that joined them to destruction (al-thalal).
