والآلة: الأداة، والجمع الآلات.

وهي خشبات تبنى عليها الخيمة، ومنه قول كثير يصف ناقة ويشبه قوائمها بها:
And they are wooden poles upon which the tent is built, and from this is the saying of Kathir describing a she-camel and likening her legs to them:

يقال: آل الأمير رعيته يؤولها أولا وإيالا، أي ساسها وأحسن رعايتها.
It is said: the prince governed his flock, governing it with policy and good care, meaning he managed it and took excellent care of it.
وآل ما له، أي أصلحه وساسه.
And 'aal' his property, meaning he repaired it and managed it.
والائتيال، الاصلاح والسياسة.
And 'al-i'tiyal', repair and governance.
بمؤتر تأتاله إبهامها وهو تفتعله من ألت، كما تقول تقتاله من قلت، أي تصلحه إبهامها.
