قال الأصمعي: الملق مثل الملخ، وهو السير الشديد.
Al-Asma'i said: Al-malq is like al-malakh, which is intense running.
والميلق: السريع.
And al-maylaqu: the swift one.

A swift horse in the race, a fast one, as if it were a swift bird or a quail.
وانملق الشئ واملق، بالادغام، أي صار أملس.

وحوقل ساعده قد انملق
And his forearm was strong, it had become smooth.
وانملق مني، أي أفلت.
And it amlaqa from me, meaning it escaped.
والملقة: الصفاة الملساء.

إذا سامت على الملقات ساما
If they aimed for the smooth rocks, they aimed high.
والاملاق: الافتقار.
