وهن ستة، ثلاثة منها ذولقية، وهي الراء واللام والنون، وثلاثة شفوية وهي الفاء والباء والميم.
And they are six: three of them are dhawlaqiyyah (articulated at the front), which are R, L, and N, and three are labial, which are F, B, and M.
وإنما سميت هذه الحروف ذلقا لأن الذلاقة في المنطق إنما هي بطرف أسلة اللسان والشفتين، وهما مدرجتا هذه الحروف الستة.
