وأنشد لحجر ابن خالد (2) : ندهدق بضع اللحم للباع والندى وبعضهم تغلى بذم مناقعه (3)
And he recited for Hajar ibn Khalid: 'Breaking small pieces of meat for the giver and the dew, while some boil their origins in dispraise.'
وهمقته بزيادة الميم مثله.
And I 'damhaq' it, with the addition of the mim, it is similar.
وقال الاصمعي: الدهمقة: لين الطعام وطيبه ورقته.
Al-Asma'i said: 'Al-Dahamqah: the softness of food, its pleasantness, and its fineness.'
قال: وأنشدني خلف الاحمر في نعت أرض: جون روابي تربه دهامق (1)
He said: 'And Khalaf al-Ahmar recited to me in description of land: dark, hilly, its soil is soft.'
ومننه حديث عمر رضي الله عنه: " لو شئت أن يدهمق لى لفعلت، ولكن الله عاب قوما فقال: أذهبتم طيباتكم في حياتكم الدنيا واستمتعتم بها ".
And from it is the hadith of Umar, may Allah be pleased with him: 'If I wished for it to be made soft for me, I would do so, but Allah criticized a people saying: 'You have spent your good things in your worldly life and enjoyed them.'
