والقرف بالفتح: وعاء من جلد يدبغ بالقرفة، وهى قشور الرمان ويجعل فيه الخلع، وهو لحم يطبخ بتوابل، فيفرغ فيه.
And al-qurf (with fatha): a vessel of leather tanned with qirfah, which is pomegranate peels, and into which is placed al-khul', which is meat cooked with spices, then poured into it.
وأن كذب القراطف والقروف أي عليكم بالقراطف والقروف فاغنموها.
And that the qaraatif and the quruuf are lies, meaning: 'Take the qaraatif and the quruuf and seize them.'
ما أبصرت عيني ولا أقرفت يدي، أي ما دنت منه.
My eyes have not seen, nor have my hands qirfat, meaning I have not drawn near to it.
وما أقرفت لذلك، أي ما دانيته ولا خالطت أهله.
And I did not aqraf for that, meaning I did not approach it nor mingle with its people.

والمقرف: الذي دانى الهجنة من الفرس وغيره الذى أمه عربية وأبوه ليس كذلك، لان الاقراف إنما هو من قبل الفحل، والهجنة من قبل الام.
And al-muqrif: one who is near to mixed breed among horses and others, whose mother is Arab and father is not so, because the muqrif is from the father's side, and the mixed breed is from the mother's side.
وقرفت القرحة أقرفها قرفا، أي قشرتها، وذلك إذا يبست.
And I qaraft the wound, I qirfuha qarf-an, meaning I peeled it, and that is when it has dried.
وتقرفت هي، أي تقشرت.
And it taqarrfat, meaning it peeled off.
والجرح لم يتقرف.
And the wound had not peeled off.
وقرفت الرجل، أي عبته.
And I qaraft the man, meaning I found fault with him.
هو يقرف بكذا، أي يرمى به ويتهم، فهو مقروف.
He is muqraf with such-and-such, meaning he is accused of it and suspected, so he is maqrūf.
تركته على مثل مقرف الصمغة، وهو موضع القرف، أي القشر.
I left him on a place like the maqrūf of the samghah, which is the place of qurf, meaning the peel.
وفلان يقرف لعياله، أي يكسب.

And so-and-so qarafa the sin, meaning he mixed with it.
وقارف امرأته، أي جامعها.
And he qarafa his wife, meaning he had intercourse with her.
أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يصبح جنبا من قراف غير احتلام ثم يصوم.
That the Prophet, peace be upon him, would wake up in a state of janabah from qiraf other than a wet dream, then he would fast.
