It is said: he has neither a qad nor a quḥf.
فالقد: فدح من جلد، والقحف من خشب.
For the qad is: a skin container, and the quḥf is of wood.
وقحفته قحفا، أي ضربت قحفه وأصبت قحفه.
And I struck his skull (qahaf-tuhu qahfan), meaning: I struck his skull and hit his skull.
وقحفت قحفا، أي شربت جميع ما في الإناء.
And I drank completely (quhaf-tu quhfan), meaning: I drank all that was in the container.
ويقال: شربت بالقحف.
And it is said: I drank with the quḥf.
اليوم قحاف، وغد انقاف.
Today is a day of intense drinking, and tomorrow is a day of (more) drinking.
وسيل قحاف بالضم وقعاف، وهما مثل الجحاف، يذهب بكل شئ.
And a torrent (sayl) quḥaf (with damma) and quʿāf, and they are like al-juḥāf, it takes away everything.
والاقتحاف: الشرب الشديد.
And al-iqtiḥāf: intense drinking.
والقاحف: المطر الشديد.
And al-qāḥif: severe rain.
