And the saḥīfah: a rainstorm that sweeps away what it passes by.
وسحف رأسه، أي حلقه
And he shaved his head, meaning he cut it off.
وسمعت حفيف الرحى وسحيفها
And I heard the rustling of the millstone and its scraping sound.
هو صوتها إذا طحنت
It is its sound when it grinds.
والسحاف: السل
And the saḥāf: consumption (illness).
يقال رجل مسحوف
It is said of a man who is afflicted with consumption (rajul masḥūf).
