And a man 'muharraf' (with fatha on the ra), meaning deprived and unfortunate, which is the opposite of your saying 'blessed'.
وقد حورف كسب فلان، إذا شدد عليه في معاشه، كأنه ميل برزقه عنه.
And so-and-so's earnings have been 'hawrafed' (made difficult), if his livelihood was tightened upon him, as if his provision was turned away from him.
" موت المؤمن عرق الجبين (1) تبقى عليه البقية من الذنوب فيحارف بها عند الموت " أي يشدد عليه لتمحص عنه ذنوبه.
"The death of a believer is sweat on the brow. Some sins remain upon him, so he is 'muharraf' (tested severely) at death," meaning he is tested severely so that his sins may be purified.
والخرف بالضم: حب الرشاد، ومنه قيل شئ حريف بالتشديد، للذى يلذع اللسان بحرا فته.
And 'al-khirf' (with damma) is garden cress, and from it is said something 'harreef' (with shadda), which stings the tongue with its sharpness.
لحرفة أحدهم أشد علي من عيلته
The craft of one of them is more severe upon me than his family's needs.
والمحترف: الصانع.
And 'al-muhtarif' is the craftsman.
يقال: هو يحرف لغياله، أي يكسب من هاهنا وهاهنا، مثل يقرف.
It is said: He 'yahraf' for his sustenance, meaning he earns from here and there, like 'yaqrif'.

When the physician treated it with his measuring instruments, it increased beyond the swelling or its movement.

And 'tahreef' of the pen: cutting it obliquely.
انحرف عنه وتحرف واحرورف، أي مال وعدل.
He 'inharafa' from it, and 'taharrafa', and 'ahraurafa', meaning he inclined and deviated.
مالي عن هذا الأمر محرف، ومالي عنه مصرف بما بمعنى واحد، أي متنحى.
