وحذفة: اسم فرس خالد جعفر بن كلاب، وفيها يقول:
And Ḥudhfah: the name of Khalid ibn Ja'far ibn Kilab's horse, and about it he says:
فمن يك سائلا عنى فإنى وحذفة كالشجا تحت الوريد
So whoever asks about me, then indeed I and Ḥudhfah are like a bone stuck under the vein.
وحذفه تحذيفا، أي هيأه وصنعه.
And he prepared it taḥdhīfan, meaning he fashioned and made it.
لها جبهة كسراة المج ن حذفه الصانع المقتدر
It has a forehead like the lion's mane, fashioned by the capable craftsman.
والحذف بالتحريك: غنم سود صغار من غنم الحجاز، الواحدة حذفة.
And al-ḥadhf (with vowel movement): small black sheep from the sheep of the Hijaz, the singular is ḥadhfah.
وفى الحديث: " كأنها بنات حذف ".
And in the Hadith: 'as if they were young ḥadhf sheep'.
