وَقَالَ أَبُو عَمْرٍو: اللُّعَاعَةُ: الكَلَأُ الخَفِيفُ رُعِيَ أَوْ لَمْ يُرْعَ.

And Abu Amr said: Al-lu'ā'ah: is light herbage, whether grazed or not.

وَاللَّلَعُ: السَّرَابُ.

And lala'tuhu: its shimmering.

وَلَلَعَ: جَبَلٌ كَانَتْ بِهِ وَقْعَةٌ.

لَقَدْ ذَاقَ مِنَّا عَامِرٌ يَوْمَ لَلَعٍّ حُسَامًا إِذَا مَا هُزَّ بِالكَفِّ صُمِّمَا

Amir tasted from us on the day of La'la' a sword that, when shaken by the hand, was sharp.

وَتَلَعْلَعَ فُلَانٌ مِنَ الجُوعِ، أَيْ تَضَوَّرَ.

And so-and-so writhed from hunger, meaning he writhed intensely.

وَاللَّيْعَةُ: خُبْزُ الجَاوَرِسِ.

And al-lay'ah: is bread of millet.

وَلَلْعَتُّ عَظْمَهُ فَتَلَعْلَعَ، أَيْ كَسَرْتُهُ فَتُكَسِّرَ.
