ومنهم من يدغم فيقول اضجع فيظهر الاصلى
And among them are those who assimilate, saying 'iḍḍaḍja'a', thus revealing the original consonant.
ولا يقال اطجع لانهم لا يدغمون الضاد في الطاء
And 'iṭṭaḍja'a' is not said because they do not assimilate the 'ḍād' into the 'ṭā''.
وقال المازنى: بعض العرب يقول الطجع، ويكره الجمع بين حرفين مطبقين، ويبدل مكان الضاد أقرب الحروف إليها وهى اللام
And Al-Māzinī said: Some Arabs say 'al-ṭaḍja'a', disliking the combination of two emphatic letters, and they substitute the 'ḍād' with the closest letter to it, which is 'lām'.
وضجيعك: الذى يضاجعك
And your bedfellow: he who lies down with you.
والتضجيع في الأمر: التقصير فيه
And 'taḍjī'' in a matter: falling short in it.
