And 'al-ṣulāc' (bushy tree) with dammah and shaddah: the wide one among trees, the singular is 'ṣalācah'.
وكذلك الصلع، كأنه مقصور منه
And likewise 'al-ṣala' (bushy tree), as if it were shortened from it.
قال الأصمعي: الصلع: الموضع الذي لا ينبت
Al-Aṣma'ī said: 'Al-ṣala' (barren place): the place where nothing grows.
