And al-bid'ah is the cutting.

فإن أبا عبيد حكى عن الفراء أنها البيضة.
For Abu Ubaid narrated from al-Farra' that it is the egg.
وحكى سلمة عن الفراء أنه الصوت في الحرب.
And Salama narrated from al-Farra' that it is the sound in war.
والأخضع: الذي في عنقه خضوع وتطامن خلقة.
And al-akhda': he who has a natural stoop and inclination in his neck.
يقال: فرس أخضع بين الخضع، وظليم أخضع، وقوم خضع الرقاب، جمع خضوع، أي خاضع.
It is said: an akhda' horse among the stooped, an akhda' ostrich, and people with bowed necks (khud' al-riqab), plural of khudu', meaning submissive.
وإذا الرجال رأوا يزيد رأيتهم * خضع الرقاب نواكس الابصار
And when men saw Yazid, I saw them with bowed necks, lowering their gazes.
