And when you exceed the word 'ten', the 'bith' is gone; you do not say 'twenty-something'.
والبضعة: القطعة من اللحم، هذه بالفتح، وأخواتها بالكسر مثل: القطعة، والفلذة، والفدرة، والكسفة، والخرقة، والجذوة وما لا يحصى.
And al-biḍ'ah: a piece of flesh, this is with a fatha, and its sisters are with a kasra, such as: al-qiṭ'ah, al-filthah, al-fudrah, al-kisfah, al-khirqah, al-jadhwah, and countless others.
والجمع بضع، مثل تمرة وتمر.
And the plural is biḍ', like tamrah and tamr.
وبضعت اللحم بضعا بالفتح: قطعته.
And you cut the flesh with a biḍ' (fatha) meaning you cut it.
وبضعت الجرح: شققته.
And you split the wound: you cut it open.
والمبضع: ما يبضع به العرق والأديم.
And al-mibḍa': what is used to cut the vein and the leather.
وبضعت من الماء بضعا: رويت.
And you were satiated with water with a biḍ' (fatha), meaning you were quenched.
حتى متى تكرع ولا تبضع
Until when will you drink greedily and not be satiated?
وربما قالوا: بضعت من فلان إذا سئمت منه.
And sometimes they say: 'I became weary of so-and-so' if you grew tired of him.
وأبضعنى الماء: أروانى.
And the water made me satiated: it quenched me.
وسألني فلان عن مسألة فأبضعته، إذا شفيته.
And so-and-so asked me a question, and I satisfied him, meaning I cured him.
والبضع بالضم: النكاح، عن ابن السكيت.
And al-biḍ' (damma): sexual intercourse, according to Ibn al-Sikkit.
قال: يقال ملك فلان بضع فلانة.
He said: It is said that so-and-so possessed so-and-so's chastity/sexual rights.
والمباضعة: المجامعة، وهى البضاع.
And al-mubāḍa'ah: sexual intercourse, and it is al-biḍā'.
كمعلمة أمها البضاع
Like a woman teaching her mother sexual intercourse.
والبضيع: الجزيرة في البحر.
And al-baḍī': the island in the sea.
والبضيع: اللحم ; يقال: دابة كثيرة البضيع.
And al-baḍī': flesh; it is said: an animal with much flesh.
ورجل خاظى البضيع.
And a man with thick flesh.
ويقال جبهته تبضع، أي تسيل عرقا.
And it is said his forehead sweats, meaning it flows with perspiration.
إلا الحميم فإنه يتبضع
Except the hot water, for it sweats.
والبضيع: العرق.
And al-baḍī': the vein.
وبئر بضاعة التى في الحديث، تكسر وتضم.
And the well of Bid'ah which is in the hadith, it is pronounced with a kasra and a damma.
