Is the soul but a borrowed pleasure, borrowed and then it comes to its Lord after months have passed.
والفرطة بالضم: اسم للخروج والتقدم.
And 'al-furṭah' (with dammah) is a noun for going forth and preceding.
والفرطة بالفتح: المرة الواحدة منه، مثل غرفة وغرفة، وحسوة وحسوة.
And 'al-fartah' (with fatha) is one instance of it, like 'gharfah' and 'gharfah', and 'ḥaswah' and 'ḥaswah'.
إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم نهاك عن الفرطة في البلاد.
Indeed, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, forbade you from excessive travel in the land.
والفرط بالتحريك: الذى يتقدم الواردة فيهيئ لهم الارسان والدلاء ويمدر الحياض ويستقي لهم.
And 'al-farṭ' (with harakah) is one who precedes the arrivals, preparing for them the ropes and buckets, filling the troughs, and drawing water for them.

اللهم اجعله لنا فرطا.
O Allah, make him a precursor for us.

They contend for the reins, listening attentively * just as the doves race to the water.
وتكلم فلان فراطا، أي سبقت منه كلمة.
And so-and-so spoke suddenly, meaning a word preceded from him.
والماء الفراط: الذي يكون لمن سبق إليه من الأحياء.
And 'al-mā' al-firāṭ' is the water that belongs to whoever reaches it first among the living.
وأمر فرط، أي مجاوز فيه الحد.

وكان أمره فرطا.
And his matter was an excess.

And 'afrāṭ al-ṣubḥ' are the first signs of dawn.

And 'al-farṭ' is the fast mare that outpaces the horses, meaning it gets ahead of them.
فرط وشاحي إذ غدوت لجامها.

وفلان لا يفترط إحسانه وبره، أي لا ينقرض ولا يخاف فوته.
And so-and-so's kindness and benevolence do not cease, meaning they do not end nor is their passing feared.
افترط فلان، إذا مات له ولد صغير قبل أن يبلغ الحلم.
So-and-so has 'iftaraṭa', if he had a young child die before reaching puberty.
