And the essence of ghee (with ḍamm on ḵlṣ) is what is purified from it. For when they cook butter to make it ghee, they throw into it something from barley flour, or dates, or gazelle droppings. When it becomes good and is purified from the dregs, that ghee is the essence (al-khulāṣah), and also al-khalaṣ (with kasr on ḵlṣ), as narrated by Abu Ubayd.
وهو الاثر. والثفل الذى يبقى أسفل هو الخلوص، والقلدة، والقشدة، والكدادة.
And it is the residue. And the sediment that remains at the bottom is al-khuluṣ, and al-qildah, and al-qushdah, and al-kadādah.
والمصدر منه الاخلاص.
And the verbal noun from it is al-ikhlāṣ.
وقد أخلصت السمن.

And al-ikhlāṣ also in obedience means abandoning ostentation.

واستخلصه لنفسه، أي استخصه.
And he reserved it for himself, meaning he made it exclusive for himself.
والخلصاء: أرض بالبادية فيها عين ماء.
And Al-Khalsā': a land in the desert with a spring of water.
قال الشاعر: أشبهن من بقر الخلصاء أعينها * وهن أحسن من صيرانها صورا
The poet said: Their eyes resemble those of the cows of Al-Khalsā', and they are more beautiful in form than their calves.
وذو الخلصة بالتحريك: بيت لخثعم كان يدعى كعبة اليمامة، وكان فيه صنم يدعى الخلصة، فهدم.
And Dhu al-Khalsa (with taḥrīk) was a house of the Khath'am tribe, which was called the Ka'bah of Yamamah, and in it was an idol called Al-Khalsa, which was then demolished.
