ويقال إن القادسية دعا لها إبراهيم عليه السلام بالقدس وأن تكون محلة الحاج.
And it is said that Al-Qadisiyyah was prayed for by Abraham (peace be upon him) to be a place of sanctity and a stopping point for pilgrims.
والقدوس: اسم من أسماء الله تعالى، وهو فعول من القدس، وهو الطهارة.
And Al-Quddus: one of the names of God Almighty, it is a form of Quddus from the root Quds, meaning purity.
كل اسم جاء على فعول فهو مفتوح الاول، مثل سفود، وكلوب، وسمور، وشبوط، وتنور، إلا السبوح والقدوس فإن الضم فيهما أكثر، وقد يفتحان.
Every noun that comes on the pattern 'fa'ul' is open in the first letter, like safud, kalub, samur, shabbot, tanur, except for Al-Subuh and Al-Quddus, for which the damma is more common, though they can be opened.
والقدس بالتحريك: السطل بلغة أهل الحجاز، لأنه يتطهر فيه.
And Al-Quds (with harakah) is a basin in the language of the people of Hijaz, because purification is done in it.
والقداس بالضم: شئ يعمل كالجمان من فضة.
And Al-Qaddas (with damma) is something made like pearls from silver.
قال الشاعر يصف الدموع: كنظم قداس سلكه متقطع
The poet said, describing tears: Like a string of silver ornaments, strung intermittently
