وكذلك السحاب، إذا دنا من الارض
And likewise clouds, when they approach the earth.
والعس: القدح العظيم، والرفد أكبر منه، وجمعه عساس
And 'al-'ass: the large cup, and 'al-rafd' is larger than it, and its plural is 'assas'.
وقولهم: جئ بالمال من عسك وبسك: لغة في حسك وبسك
And their saying: Bring the money from 'ask wa bask': a dialectal variant of 'hask wa bask'.
أبو زيد: العسوس: الناقة التي ترعى وحدها، مثل القسوس
Abu Zayd: 'Al-'asus: the she-camel that grazes alone, like 'al-qasus'.

Abu 'Amr said: 'Al-ta'as'as: sniffing.
وأنشد: كمنخر الذئب إذا تعسعسا
And he recited: Like the nostril of the wolf when it sniffs.
والتعسعس أيضا: طلب الصيد بالليل
And 'al-ta'as'as' also: hunting prey at night.
وعسعس: موضع بالبادية، واسم رجل أيضا
And 'As'as: a place in the desert, and also a man's name.
قال الراجز (1) : وعسعس نعم الفتى تبياه (2) * أي تعتمده
The poet said: And 'As'as, what a fine young man he is, you rely on him * meaning you depend on him.
