إذا النفساء لم تخرس ببكرها * غلاما ولم يسكت بحتر فطيمها *
If the woman in confinement was not given food for her firstborn son, nor was her weaned child quieted with something insignificant.

Your evil is present, and your good is scarce, like a virgin rabbit.
والخرس، بالتحريك: مصدر الأخرس.
And al-khurs (with harakah) is the masdar of al-akhras (mute).
وأخرسه الله.
And God made him mute.
وكتيبة خرساء، هي التي لا تسمع لها صوتا من وقارهم في الحرب.
And a kharsā' (silent) army is one from which no sound is heard due to their solemnity in war.
وقال أبو عبيد: هي التي صمتت من كثرة الدروع ليست لها قعاقع.
Abu Ubayd said: It is one that is silent from the abundance of armor, having no clatter.
ولبن أخرس: أي خاثر لا صوت له في الإناء.
And 'akhras milk: meaning curdled milk that makes no sound in the container.
وسحابة خرساء: ليس فيها رعد ولا برق.
And a kharsā' (silent) cloud: it has no thunder or lightning.
وعلم أخرس، إذا لم يسمع في الجبل صوت صدى.
And an 'akhras (silent) landmark, if no echo is heard from the mountain.
والاخرماس: السكوت.
And al-ikhmās: silence.
والنسبة إلى خراسان: خرسى، وخراسى، وخراساني.
And the nisba to Khorasan: khursī, khurāsī, and khurāsānī.
ويقال هم خرسان، كما يقال: سودان وبيضان.
And they are called khursān, just as it is said: sudān (Blacks) and bayāḍ (Whites).
فمنه قول بشار: في البيت من خرسان لا تعاب * يعنى بناته.
And among this is the saying of Bishr: 'In the house of khursān, no fault can be found' - meaning his daughters.
