تقول منه: حاس الحيس يحيسه حيسا، أي اتخذه.
You say from it: He prepared the Hais by mixing it, meaning he made it.
وإذا تكون كريهة أدعى لها * وإذا يحاس الحيس يدعى جندب
And if a difficult matter arises, I am called for it; * And when Al-Hais is prepared, Jundab is called.
ثم شبهت به العرب حتى قالوا لمن أحدقت به الإماء في طرفيه: محيوس.
Then the Arabs likened to it until they said of one surrounded by female slaves on his sides: Muhayyus.
قد حيس هذا الدين عندي حيسا
