والمرتجز: اسم فرس كان لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم الذى اشتراه من الاعرابي وشهد له خزيمة بن ثابت.
And Al-Murtajiz: the name of a horse that belonged to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, which he bought from a Bedouin, and Khuzaymah ibn Thabit testified for it.
والرجز أيضا: داء يصيب الإبل في أعجازها فإذا ثارت الناقة ارتعشت فخذاها ساعة ثم تنبسطان.
And ar-rujz also: a disease that afflicts camels in their hindquarters; when the she-camel becomes agitated, her thighs tremble for a moment, then they relax.
يقال: بعير أرجز، وقد رجز، وناقة رجزاء.
It is said: a camel is 'arjuz', and it has 'rajaza', and a she-camel is 'rajza'.
هممت بخير ثم قصرت دونه * كما ناءت الرجزاء شد عقالها
I intended good, then fell short of it * like the 'rajza' camel whose tether was tightened, her hindquarters moved.
ومننه سمي الرجز من الشعر، لتقارب أجزائه وقلة حروفه.
And from this, the 'rajaz' meter of poetry was named, due to the proximity of its parts and the scarcity of its letters.
والرجازة: مركب أصغر من الهودج.
And ar-rajaza: a mount smaller than a howdah.
ويقال هو كساء يجعل فيه أحجار يعقل بأحد جانبى الهودج إذا مال.
And it is said to be a cloth in which stones are placed, which is tied to one side of the howdah if it tilts.
