And it is said: 'al-hirr' in this proverb means calling the sheep, and 'al-barr' means their market.
والهرار: داء يأخذ الإبل تسلح منه.
And 'al-harrar': is a disease that affects camels, from which they urinate excessively.
فإلا يكن فيها هرار فإننى * بسل يمانيها إلى الحول خائف
If there is no 'harrar' in it, then I am afraid of its strong flow lasting until the year.
هرت الابل تهر هرارا
The camels suffered from 'harrar', they suffer from 'harrar'.
ولا يصادفن شربا آجنا كدرا * ولا يهر به منهن مبتقل
And may they not encounter drinking stagnant, turbid water, nor may any of them urinate excessively from it.
وهرير الكلب: صوته دون نباحه من قلة صبره على البرد.
And the 'hareer' of the dog: is its sound short of its bark, due to its lack of patience with the cold.
وقد هر الكلب يهر هريرا.
And the dog has whined, it whines a 'hareer'.
إذا كبد النجم السماء بشتوة * على حين هر الكلب والثلج خاشف
When the star pierces the sky with a winter chill, at the time the dog whines and the snow is falling.
وهر فلان الكأس والحرب هريرا، أي كرهها.
And so-and-so disliked the cup and the war, meaning he hated them.
حتى تهروا العواليا
Until they disliked the spears.
وهاره، أي هر في وجهه.
And 'harrahu', meaning he disliked him to his face.
هر الشبرق والبهمى، إذا يبس وتنفش.
'Shibarq' and 'buhamah' withered and spread out, when they dried and became fluffy.
رعين الشبرق الريان حتى * إذا ماهر وامتنع المذاقا
They grazed on the fresh 'shibarq' until, when it withered and refused its taste.
والهراران: نجمان.
And 'al-Harraran': are two stars.
وهرهرت بالغنم: دعوتها، عن أبى عمرو.
And I 'harhar-ed' the sheep: I called them, according to Abu Amr.
وهرهرت الشئ: لغة في فرفرته، إذا حركته.
And I 'harhar-ed' the thing: a dialectal variant of 'farfar-ed' it, when I moved it.
والهرهور: الماء الكثير، وهو الذي إذا جرى سمعت له: هرهر، وهو حكاية جريه.
And 'al-harhur': is abundant water, which when it flows, you hear from it: 'harhar', which is an imitation of its flow.
