ولقد رأيت مكانهم فكرهتهم * ككراهة الخنزير للايغار
And I have seen their place, and I disliked them * like the pig's dislike of boiling.
والوغيرة: اللبن يسخن بالحجارة المحماة: والوغير أيضا.
And al-waghirah: Milk heated with hot stones; and al-wagheer also.
ينش الماء في الربلات منها * نشيش الرضف في اللبن الوغير
Water bubbles from its fetlocks * like the bubbling of hot stones in heated milk.
تقول منه: أوغرت اللبن.
You say from this: I heated the milk.
وكذلك التوغير.
And likewise al-tawgeer.
فسائل مرادا عن ثلاثة فتية * وعن إثر ما أبقى الصريح الموغر
So ask Marad about three youths * and about the trace left by the pure, heated one.
وسمعت وغرالجيش، أي أصواتهم.
And I heard the wughar of the army, meaning their sounds.
كأنما زهاؤه لمن جهر * ليل ورز وغره إذا وغر
As if its splendor, when revealed, was * night and sustenance, and its sound when it sounded.
في ظهرت مرت عساقيل السحاب به * كأن وغر قطاه وغر حادينا
On a plain where clouds passed over it * as if the sound of its sandgrouse was our sound.
وأوغر العامل الخراج، أي استوفاه.
And the official collected the tax, meaning he fully extracted it.
ويقال: الإيغار أن يوغر الملك الرجل الأرض، يجعلها له من غير خراج.
And it is said: Al-iyghar is when the king grants a man land, making it his without tax.
وقد يسمى ضمان الخراج إيغارا، وهي لفظة مولدة.
And guaranteeing the tax may be called iyghar, and it is a newly coined word.
