والنقر: صويت يسمع من قرع الإبهام على الوسطى.

يقال: ما أثابه نقرة، أي شيئا. لا يستعمل إلا في النفي.
It is said: 'He did not reward him a thing', meaning nothing. It is only used in the negative.
وهن حرى أن لا يثبنك نقرة * وأنت حرى بالنار حين تثيب -
And they are eager not to reward you a thing, while you are eager for the fire when you reward.
والناقر: السهم إذا أصاب الهدف.
