It is said: I qattartu for the lion, if I placed meat for it in the pit so it finds its scent.
ويقال: أقترت المرأة فهى مقترة، إذا تبخرت بالعود.
And it is said: A woman aqtarat, so she is muqtarah, if she perfumed herself with oud.
وأقتر الرجل: افتقر.
And a man aqtar: meaning he became poor.
لكم قبصه من بين أثرى وأقتر
Yours is its ember from among those who are rich and those who are poor
ولم أقتر لدن أني غلام
