تقول منه: خبرته أخبره خبرا بالضم، وخبرة بالكسر، إذا بلوته واختبرته.
You say from it: khabartuhu, ukhbiruhu, khabran (with damma), and khibratan (with kasr), if you test and examine him.
يقال: " صدق الخبر الخبر ".
It is said: 'The news is true, the knowledge is true.'
وأما قول أبى الدرداء وجدت الناس اخبر تقلهم " فيريد أنك إذا خبرتهم قليتهم، فأخرج الكلام على لفظ الامر ومعناه الخبر.
As for the saying of Abu Ad-Darda', 'I found people testing them,' it means that when you test them, you find them wanting, so the expression is on the form of the command but its meaning is testing.
والخابور: موضع بناحية الشام.

يقال: " عليه الدبرى، وحمى خيبرى ".

And al-khabrah (with damma): the portion you take of fish or meat, as narrated by Abu Ubayd.
