And the stallion jafara (becomes exhausted) from mating, yajfuru (with dammah) jufuran, and that is when he mates excessively until he is worn out and stops and turns away from it.
ومننه قيل: الصوم مجفرة، أي مقطعة للنكاح.
And from it is said: Fasting is mujaffirah, meaning it cuts off sexual intercourse.
وقد عارض الشعرى سهيل كأنه * قريع هجان عارض الشول جافر
And Suhail has appeared opposite the Pleiades, as if he were * a vigorous stud camel facing the barren she-camels, jafir (exhausted).
وجفر جنباه اتسعا.
And his flanks jafara (widened).
ويقال: أجفرت ما كنت فيه، أي تركته.
And it is said: Ajfartu ma kuntu fihi, meaning I abandoned what I was in.
وأجفرت فلانا: قطعته وتركت زيادته.
And ajfartu fulanan: I cut him off and left his increase.
