And a slaughtered yellow [bird], I watched its small form * over the fire and entrusted it to the hand of 'mujammid'.
يقول: انتظرت صوته على النار حين قومته وأعلمته، فهو كالمحاورة منه.
He means: I waited for its sound over the fire when I prepared it and made it known, so it is like a conversation from it.
وكان الاصمعي يقول: هو الداخل في جمادى.
And Al-Asma'i used to say: it is the one entering Jumada.
وكان جمادى في ذلك الوقت شهر برد.
And Jumada at that time was a month of cold.
