And the sheep became scattered from their pens, if they dispersed and widened from being full-bellied.
واندح بطن فلان اندحاحا: اتسع من البطنة.
And so-and-so's belly expanded with distension: it widened from being full-bellied.
وانداح بطنه اندياحا، إذا انتفخ وتدلى، من سمن كان ذلك أو علة.
And his belly became distended with distension, if it swelled and hung down, whether from fatness or illness.
قد جمع القرآن ذيلك فلا تندحيه "، أي لا توسعيه بالخروج إلى البصرة.
'The Quran has encompassed your tail (your followers/legacy), so do not expand it (by going to Basra).'
ويروى: " لا تبدحيه " بالباء، أي لا تفتحيه، من البدح وهو العلانية.
And it is narrated: 'Do not budḥīhi' (with ba'), meaning do not open it up, from al-badḥ which is publicity.
