وأنهج الطريق، أي استبان وصار نهجا واضحا بينا

قال يزيد بن الخذاق العبدى: ولقد أضاء لك الطريق وأنهجت سبل المسالك والهدى تعدي أي تعين وتقوي
Yazid bin Al-Khaddaq Al-Abdi said: 'And the path has become clear for you, and the ways of passage and guidance have become clear, meaning they are defined and strengthened.'
ونهجت الطريق، إذا أبنته وأو ضحته
And I clarified the path, if you make it evident and explain it.
يقال: اعمل على ما نهجته لك
It is said: 'Act according to what I have clarified for you.'
ونهجت الطريق أيضا، إذا سلكته
And I followed the path, if you traverse it.
وفلان يستنهج سبيل فلان، أي يسلك مسلكه
And so-and-so follows the way of so-and-so, meaning he follows his path.
والنهج بالتحريك: البهر وتتابع النفس
And an-nahj (with harakah): breathlessness and rapid breathing.
وقد نهج بالكسر ينهج
And he panted, he pants.
يقال: فلان ينهج في النفس فما أدري ما أنهجه
It is said: 'So-and-so pants heavily, and I do not know what makes him pant.'
وفي الحديث أنه رأى رجلا ينهج، أي يربو من السمن ويلهث
And in the hadith, he saw a man panting, meaning he was growing from fatness and panting.
وأنهجت الدابة: سرت عليها حتى انبهرت
And I made the animal pant: I rode it until it was exhausted.
وأنهج الثوب، إذا أخذ في البلى
And the garment became worn out, if it began to wear.
قال عبد بني الحسحاس: فما زال بردي طيبا من ثيابها إلى الحول حتى أنهج الثوب باليا
Abd Bani Al-HasHas said: 'My garment remained good from her clothes for a year until the garment became worn out and old.'
ولا يقال نهج، ولكن أنهج
And it is not said 'nahaja' (in this sense), but rather 'anhaja'.
