والفرق بين الكميت والأشقر بالعرف والذنب، فإن كانا أحمرين فهو أشقر، وإن كانا أسودين فهو كميت
And the difference between the kumayt and the ashqar is by the mane and tail; if they are both reddish, it is ashqar, and if they are both black, it is kumayt.
تقول منه: اكمت الفرس اكمتاتا، واكمات اكميتاتا مثله
You say from it: The horse became kumayt (akmata), with the masdar akmatatan, and akmata with the masdar akmitatan, similar to it.
يقال بعير أحمر، إذا لم يخالط حمرته شئ، فإن خالط حمرته قنوء فهو كميت، والناقة كميت أيضا

والكميت من أسماء الخمر، لما فيها من سواد وحمرة
