وهب البعير في السير هبابا، أي نشط.
And the camel became vigorous in its pace with habaab, meaning it became energetic.
فلها هباب في الزمام كأنها * صهباء راح مع الجنوب جهامها
So it has a habaab in the rein as if it were a reddish-brown mare whose clouds are with the south wind.
وهززت السيف والرمح فهب هبة.
And I shook the sword and the spear, and it made a habbah (sudden movement).
وهبته: هزته ومضاؤه في الضريبة، وهو سيف ذو هبة.
And its habbah: its sharpness and its gleam in the strike, and it is a sword with habbah (sharpness).
ويقال أيضا: عشنا بذلك هبة من الدهر، أي حقبة، كما يقال سبة.
And it is also said: We lived by that for a habbah of time, meaning a long period, as it is said a sabba.
قال الأصمعي: الهبة أيضا: الساعة تبقى من السحر.
Al-Asma'i said: Al-hibbah is also: the hour remaining before dawn.
والهبة بالكسر: هياج الفحل.
And al-hibbah (with kasr): the arousal of the male animal.
تقول: هب التيس يهب بالكسر هبييا وهبابا، إذا نب للسفاد.
You say: The ram became aroused, he becomes aroused (with kasr) with habiyyan and habaaban, if he showed interest in mating.
وهبهبته: دعوته لينزو، فتهبهب: تزعزع.
And I habhabtuhu: I called him to mate, so he tahahbaba: he became unsteady.
يقال ثوب هبائب وخبائب، إذا كان متقطعا.
It is said of a garment: haba'ib and khaba'ib, if it is torn.
وتهبب الثوب: بلي.
And the garment tahabbaba: it wore out.
ويقال لقطع الثوب هبب، مثال عنب.
And for pieces of cloth, it is said habab, like 'inab (grapes).
