It is said: 'Qaraba bisbasās', which is when people graze their camels and in doing so travel towards the water. When the evening approaches and there is only a night's journey left to the water, they hasten towards it; that night is the night of 'al-qurb'.
وقد أقرب القوم، إذا كانت إبلهم قوارب، فهم قاربون، ولا يقال مقربون
And the people have 'aqrabat' (approached water), if their camels are 'qawārib' (near water), so they are 'qāribūn' (traveling to water), and not 'muqarrabūn'.
والقارب: سفينة صغيرة تكون مع أصحاب السفن البحرية تستخف لحوائجهم
And 'al-qārib' is a small boat that accompanies seafarers for their needs.
والقارب: طالب الماء ليلا، ولا يقال ذلك لطالب الماء نهارا
And 'al-qārib' is one who seeks water by night, and it is not said of one who seeks water by day.
وقربت السيف أيضا، إذا جعلته في القراب
And I sheathed the sword (qarrabtu as-sayf), if you put it in the scabbard.
والقربان، بالضم: ما تقربت به إلى الله عز وجل
And 'al-qurbān' (with dammah) is what you offer to Allah, the Almighty.
تقول منه: قربت لله قربانا
You say from it: I offered an offering to Allah (qarrabtu lillāhi qurbānan).
والقربان أيضا: واحد قرابين الملك، وهم جلساؤه وخاصته
And 'al-qurbān' also refers to one of the king's close associates, who are his companions and inner circle.
وتقرب إلى الله بشئ، أي طلب به القربة عنده
And you seek closeness to Allah with something (taqarraba ilā Allāh), meaning you seek proximity to Him with it.
وقربته تقريبا، أي أدنيته
And I brought it near to him (qarrabtuhu taqrīban), meaning I brought it close to him.

And 'al-qurb' is the opposite of 'al-bu'd' (distance).

It is said: The horse 'qarraba', when it lifts both its forelegs and hindlegs together in its run, which is slower than 'al-ḥaḍar' (a faster gait).
وله تقريبان: أعلى، وأدنى
And it has two types of 'taqrīb': higher and lower.

The promise drew near (iqtaraba al-wa'd), meaning it approached.
وقاربته في البيع مقاربة
And I approached him in the sale (qārabtuhu fī al-bay'i muqārabatan).

And something 'mugarib' (with kasrah on the raa') is intermediate between good and bad - do not say 'mugarab' - and likewise if it is inexpensive.

Because she strikes those who approach her.

And it is narrated 'kamuqarrib' (with fatha on the raa'), meaning the honored one.
وأقربت السيف: جعلت له قرابا
And I sheathed the sword (aqrabtu as-sayf): I made a scabbard for it.
وأقربت القدح، من قولهم قدح قربان، إذا قارب أن يمتلئ
And I filled the cup almost full (aqrabtu al-qudah), from their saying 'a cup is qurbān', when it is close to being full.
وجمجمة قربى، وقد حان قربانان، والجمع قراب مثال عجلان وعجال
And a skull 'qurbā', and the time for 'qurbānān' has come, and the plural is 'qirāb' like 'ajlān' and 'ajāl'.

And 'al-muqarrab' among horses is one who is brought near and honored, and the female is 'muqarrabah' and is not left to roam.

And 'al-qirbah' is what water is drawn into, and the plural for a small number is 'qurbāt' and 'qurbāt' and 'qurbāt', and for many it is 'qirab'.

And 'al-qarābah' is kinship in the womb, and it is originally a masdar.

Between me and him is kinship (qarābah), and nearness (qurb), and closeness (qurbā), and proximity (maqrubah), and closeness (maqrubah), and a waterskin (qirbah), and a waterskin (qurbah with dammah).

And 'qurāb as-sayf' is its scabbard, which is a case in which the sword is with its sheath and its strap.
إن الفرار بقراب أكيس
Indeed, fleeing with the scabbard is wiser.
والقراب أيضا: مقاربة الامر
And 'al-qurāb' also means approaching the matter.
يردن على الغدير قراب شهر
They approach the pond for a month's duration.
وكذلك إذا قارب أن يمتلئ الدلو
And likewise when the bucket is close to being full.
إلا تجئ ملاى يجئ قرابها
Unless you come full, its approach (qurābuha) will come.
ما هو بشبيهك ولا بقرابة من ذلك، مضمومة القاف، أي ولا بقريب من ذلك
He is not like you, nor is he related to that (bi-qarābah), with a dammah on the qaf, meaning not close to that.
والقرنبى مقصور: دويبة طويلة الرجلين مثل الخنفساء أعظم منه شيئا
And 'al-qurnabī' (shortened) is a long-legged insect, like a beetle but slightly larger.
القرنبى في عين أمها حسنة
The 'qurnabī' is beautiful in its mother's eye.
يدب إلى أحشائها كل ليلة دبيب القرنبى بات يعلو نقا سهلا
He creeps into her insides every night, the creeping of the 'qurnabī' as it climbs over the easy sand dune.
