Zuhayr said, satirizing a people who had taken a young man of his: 'And were it not for his stud service (or semen), you would have left him, and a worse borrowed mare's gift.'
واستعسبت الفرس، إذا استودقت.
And the mare 'ista'asbat, if she became receptive (to breeding).
واليعسوب: ملك النحل، ومنه قيل للسيد: يعسوب قومه.

واليعسوب أيضا: طائر أطول من الجرادة لا يضم جناحه إذا وقع، تشبه به الخيل في الضمر.
