And al-khashab is to place on it a wide, smooth point and rub it with it; if there were any roughness, cracks, or bumps, it would go away and become smooth.
وقول صخر: ومرهف أخلصت خشيبته
And the saying of Sakhr: And a sharp one whose khashibah (nature/temper) I refined.
أي طبيعته.

والخشيب: السهم حين يبرى البري الأول.

ورجل قشب خشب، إذا كان لا خير فيه.
And a man is qashib khashab, if he has no good in him.
وبنو رزام بن مالك بن حنظلة يقال لهم الخشاب.
And the sons of Razzam bin Malik bin Hanzalah are called Al-Khashshab.
عدلت بهم طهية والخشابا
I equated them with Tahiyyah and Al-Khashshaba.
