ويقال أيضا: حقب العام، إذا احتبس مطره.
And it is also said: the year is barren (ḥaqiba), if its rain is withheld.
والأحقب: حمار الوحش، سمي بذلك لبياض في حقويه، والانثى حقباء.
And al-aḥqab is the wild ass, so named for whiteness in its loins, and the female is ḥaqbā'.
ويقال للقارة الطويلة في السماء: حقباء.
And a long plateau in the sky is called ḥaqbā'.
والحقائب أيضا: جبل معروف.
And al-ḥuqāb is also a known mountain.
والحقيبة: واحدة الحقائب.
And al-ḥuqaybah is one of the ḥaqā'ib (small bags).
واحتقبه واستحقبه بمعنى، أي احتمله.
And iḥtaqabahu and istaḥqabahu mean the same, i.e., to carry it.
ومنه قيل: احتقب فلان الإثم، كأنه جمعه.
And from it is said: So-and-so accumulated sin, as if he gathered it.
احتقبه من خلفه.
He carried him from behind him.
والمحقب: المردف.
And al-muḥqib is the pillion rider.
