فبتلك إذ رقص اللوامع بالضحى * واجتاب أردية السراب إكامها
So I spent that night when the shimmering lights danced at dawn * and it wore the cloaks of the mirage, its hills.
والجوبة: الفرجة في السحاب وفي الجبال.
And 'al-jawbah': the gap in the clouds and in the mountains.
وانجابت السحابة: انكشفت.
And the cloud cleared: it became visible.
والجوبة: موضع ينجاب في الحرة، والجمع جوب.
And 'al-jawbah': a place that clears in the lava field, and the plural is 'jub'.
والجوب: الترس.
And 'al-jawb': the shield.
وتجوب: قبيلة من حمير حلفاء لمراد، منهم ابن ملجم.
And 'Tujub': a tribe from Himyar, allies of Murad, among them is Ibn Muljam.
ألا إن خير الناس بعد ثلاثة * قتيل التجوبى الذى جاء من مصر
Indeed, the best of people after three is * the slain one of Tujub who came from Egypt.
