And he stabbed him until he caused him to lean upon it, (af'alah form), meaning he threw him in the manner of one reclining.

وأصل التاء في جميع ذلك واو.
And the origin of the 'ta' in all of that is 'waw'.
وأوكأت فلانا إيكاء، إذا نصبت له متكأ.
And I gave someone a place to recline (awka'tuhu) if I set up for him a place to recline.
