So the vocalization with harakah is anomalous in meaning, because fa'alān is only from the pattern whose meaning is movement and agitation, like ḍarabaān (striking) and khafaqaān (beating).
والتسكين شاذ في اللفظ، لانه لم يجئ شئ من المصادر عليه.
And the vocalization with sukūn is anomalous in pronunciation, because nothing has come from the masdars on this pattern.
قال أبو عبيدة: الشنان، بغير همز، مثل الشنآن
Abu Ubaidah said: Al-shanaān, without hamza, is like al-shanaān.
وأنشد للأحوص: وما العيش إلا ما تلذ وتشتهي * وإن لام فيه ذو الشنان وفندا
And he recited for Al-Ahwas: And life is nothing but what you enjoy and desire, * even if the hater and the foolish blame it.
شنئ الرجل، فهو مشنوء، أي مبغض، وإن كان جميلا.
A man is hated, so he is mašnū', meaning disliked, even if he is handsome.
ورجلان مشنأ، وقوم مشنأ.
And two men are ugly, and a people are ugly.
وقولهم: لا أبا لشانئك، ولا أب لشانئك، أي: لمبغضك
And their saying: 'May your hater have no father,' and 'May your hater have no father,' means: to your hater.
قال ابن السكيت: وهي كناية عن قولهم: لا أبا لك
Ibn Al-Sikkit said: And it is a metaphor for their saying: 'May you have no father.'
فلو كان هذا الأمر في جاهلية * شنئت به أو غص بالماء شاربه
Had this matter been in the pre-Islamic era, * I would have affirmed it or the one drinking water would have choked on it.

And al-shunū'ah on the pattern fu'ūlah: is disgust, which is distancing oneself from impurities.
تقول: رجل فيه شنوءة، ومنه أزد شنوءة وهم: حى من اليمن ينسب إليهم شنئى.
You say: A man has disgust in him, and from it is Azd Shanu'ah, and they are: a tribe from Yemen to whom Shanī is attributed.
قال ابن السكيت: ربما قالوا: أزد شنوة بالتشديد غير مهموز، وينسب إليها شنوى.
Ibn Al-Sikkit said: Sometimes they say: Azd Shanuwah with shaddah, not hamzated, and Shanwā is attributed to them.
ونحن قريش وهم شنوه * بنا قريشا ختم النبوه
And we are Quraysh, and they are Shanūh * with us, Quraysh, the seal of prophethood.
